My Story
Dr. Sheila Levie is a dedicated veterinarian who grew up in the rural landscapes of southeastern Pennsylvania, where her neighbors were cows and cornfields. Her passion for veterinary medicine was sparked by a desire to combine her love for puzzle-solving, science, and working with animals and their families. A memorable high school experience at the New Bolton Center, where she witnessed the birth of baby goats, cemented her decision to pursue a career as a veterinarian.

Dr. Levie began her journey by working for a local vet during high school and caring for her family’s cats and dogs. She gained further experience in basic science and pharmaceutical research labs during college, before returning to veterinary practice while attending vet school.

Dr. Levie graduated with a degree in biochemistry from the University of Delaware in 1991 and earned her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Her professional interests include geriatrics, dermatology, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, feline medicine, and cytology.
She is a member of several veterinary organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, and the Delaware Valley Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Levie also holds USDA accreditation, delighting in sending pets to more countries than she has visited herself.

For Dr. Levie, the most satisfying aspect of being a veterinarian is the challenge of piecing together puzzle pieces to diagnose and treat her patients, while effectively communicating with their families. Her creative approach to treatment and management reflects her deep commitment to the well-being of both pets and their families.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Levie enjoys canoeing, kayaking, hiking, gardening, and reading. She shares her home with four cats, all named after Muppets: Oscar-the-not-so-grouchy, Mrs. Snuffleupagus, Beaker, and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. Her husband and sons, all tech enthusiasts, enjoy spoiling their furry companions, while she often receives late-night calls concerning her grand-cats. Dr. Levie has also volunteered with the Boy Scouts, chaperoning backpack camping trips and speaking at career days for scouts and daycares.
